Update on impaired driving causing injury collision

The Nanaimo RCMP has been advised that the 24-year old driver of the Toyota Yaris, that was struck by a suspected impaired driver at approximately 10 PM on Wednesday July 19, 2023, has died as a result of the injuries he sustained in the collision. The driver of the second vehicle, remains in hospital receiving medical treatment for his injuries.

Our sincere thoughts and condolences go out to the family and friends of the deceased, said R/Cst Gary O’Brien of the Nanaimo RCMP.

The investigation continues and investigators are continuing for any motorists with dash-cam video of the collision to please contact the Nanaimo RCMP non-emergency line at 250-754-2345.
