Elderly assistance:

While on routine patrol in the Kildala neighbourhood on March 1st, a Kitimat RCMP officer came across an elderly citizen walking in the cold weather. The officer stopped to chat with the citizen, when it was decided the officer would assist the elderly person to get home. The assistance was appreciated. (2024-713)

Prohibited driver:

A traffic stop that was done by a Kitimat RCMP officer on March 3rd, resulted in a vehicle being impound. While the officer was conducting the traffic stop, it was found the driver had their drivers license cancelled and was to be served a prohibition notice. The driver was served the documents and the vehicle was impounded. (2024-729)

90-day driving prohibition:

On March 3rd, a Kitimat RCMP officer on patrol conducted a traffic stop and an investigation into impaired operation of a vehicle was started. The driver provided two samples of breath into an approved screening device. It was found the driver has consumed alcohol resulting before taking control of the vehicle. The driver was issued a 90-day driving prohibition and the vehicle was impounded for 30 days. (2024-730)

Coffee with a cop:

Four Kitimat officers attended Delta King Place and met with several residents for the most recent Coffee with a Cop on March 5th. Community safety and accessibility was the topic of discussion. The residents also asked questions about RCMP training and sections like the Police Dog Services. Wrong bus, wrong town:

The Kitimat RCMP were advised of a youth that needed assistance on March 6th. It was found that the youth had gotten onto the wrong transit but in Terrace and ended up in Kitimat. Their cellphone had died so they were unable to contact a family member for help. The responding Kitimat RCMP officer located the youth and was able to contact their family to ensure a safe ride back to Terrace. (2024-761)
